It's just so unnerving to hear about the shooting that took place in Midtown, Tucson. I am particularly troubled by how this incident unfolded around Speedway and Stone at such early hours. The fact that the police found Aaron Boatner with gunshot wounds and could not save him is just tragic. It must have been a chaotic and terrifying scene not only for the officers and first responders but also for the other victims and their families. What gets me every time is the randomness of these acts of violence and how they leave so many lives shattered in their wake. It’s hard not to think about Aaron’s family and friends and what they must be going through right now. I can't even begin to imagine the impact this loss has left on them. I've also been thinking about the need for a more robust conversation around community safety and how we support one another in times like this. The frequency of these incidents in Tucson is seriously concerning. Something's got to change to make these neighborhoods safer. It's a conversation we need to have as a community, don't you think?
