I just read about the Anchorage serial killer case, and I can’t stop thinking about the consequences of keeping investigations under wraps. I completely understand the need for police to work discreetly in certain situations, especially early on when evidence might still be fresh, but at what cost? ? I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for residents not to know that a serial killer was potentially on the loose. It's a relief they linked the cases eventually, but wouldn't it have helped to alert the public earlier? Maybe people who encountered Ritchie could’ve come forward with info sooner. My heart goes out to the loved ones of all those who lost their lives. Hopefully, more transparency can prevent future tragedies.
