Teanne Maurice Miller, an African-American man, was found fatally shot in the alley behind 5621 Eads Street NE in Washington, DC, late on the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2003. Officers arrived about 11:40 a.m.; the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch opened an investigation and issued a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Weeks earlier, on January 19, 2003, Miller had been wounded in a separate downtown confrontation near Dupont Circle that began as a fistfight and escalated to gunfire. In that incident Miller survived but his companion Stephen Turner was killed; John Tyler was later convicted in that shooting. There is no court record linking that conviction to Miller’s March 1 killing, which remains a distinct, unsolved homicide. Authorities have not publicly announced any arrests or identified suspects in the Eads Street slaying.

If anyone has information about what happened behind Eads Street NE on March 1, investigators are asking to be contacted.
