I've been following Marquice Houston's case, and I can't help but wonder about the impact his passing has had on his closest friends and family. As someone who lived his life without significant trouble, it's devastating to think about what they must be going through right now. I think about how his friends might have had so many shared dreams and plans for the future with him, now left with only memories and unanswered questions. It must be incredibly hard for them to process his sudden loss, especially given the violent nature of it. Was there ever any information shared by the family or their representatives on how they're coping or what support they're receiving from the community? Knowing how strong community ties can be, I hope the city of Wilmington is rallying around them during this unbearably difficult time.
