I can't stop thinking about the role that bystanders play in these tragic situations. It's so tragic that Allen Melton lost his life after trying to step in and calm things down. That split-second decision shows the kind of person he was—caring and brave, even in the face of danger. But it also makes me wonder about how we, as a society, can support those who find themselves in similar situations. Shouldn't there be more awareness or training on how to safely intervene or when to step back and seek help? This case really underscores how quickly things can escalate and how important it is to emphasize de-escalation techniques. And while Sandy Lashley is behind bars, it doesn’t fill the void for Melton's family and friends. I hope this tragedy can lead to some positive changes in community safety measures or educational efforts. How do you all think communities can better equip people to handle disputes without resorting to violence?
