I’ve been following the Hakeem Smalls case closely and it's such a reminder of how crucial cold case units can be. Thinking about it just gives me chills. It’s sobering that it took almost four years to identify Dashawn Daley as the suspect. Imagine the pain and frustration the Smalls family went through during that time, not knowing who was responsible or if justice would ever be served.
I know nothing can bring Hakeem back, but I hope this recent development offers some sense of closure to his loved ones. The dedication displayed by the Wilmington PD and the AG's office is commendable. It truly shows how vital persistence is in these investigations.
