I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of community in solving cases like Ismail Drummond's. It's awful to think about how gun violence has taken another person's life and the impact that leaves on everyone involved. I’ve read that the neighborhood where Ismail was found has been struggling with a rise in crime for a while now. I wonder if there are community programs or initiatives currently in place that might help prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future. Bringing people together and creating safe spaces might be a big part of what's needed. If anyone has info on local efforts or ideas on how communities can get more involved, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Support for Ismail’s family and justice for him is so important, but maybe we also need to focus on how we can prevent these horrible things from continuing to happen.
