Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the resources available (or the lack thereof) for young folks in Wilmington, especially in light of tragedies like what happened to Jabar Grier. It's so painful to see another young life cut short. ? What struck me during this case is how much the community is crying out for support systems that could potentially steer individuals away from violence. It's not just a problem of policing but also of providing opportunities, like job training programs, mentorship, and safe recreational spaces. This city has such a vibrant spirit, and yet so many of its young people aren't given a fair shot to thrive. It's crucial that we start placing more focus on community-driven solutions. Is anyone aware of any initiatives that are currently making a positive impact in Wilmington, or is interested in discussing what more can be done? I'd love to hear your thoughts or ideas on how we can push for positive change before we lose another bright star like Jabar. Sending strength to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. ?️ Stay safe, everyone.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the role community centers and programs could play in preventing future tragedies like Jabar Grier's murder? I’ve been reading up on a few initiatives in other cities that have had some success in reducing violence by providing safe spaces and mentorship for young people. It’s so upsetting to think about the potential that Jabar had and how it was senselessly cut short. I can’t imagine what his family must be going through. It seems like Wilmington could really benefit from more preventative measures, but it takes a whole community effort to make a difference. What can we do to support these kinds of programs and reach out to at-risk youth before it’s too late?
