Hi everyone,
I’ve been following the Black Bear B&B case and just can’t stop thinking about the strength of Selby Bullard. Imagine coming to Maine with hopes of a fresh start after losing your father and then facing such a terrible fate. It’s just so senseless and sad. The fact that she and her friend Cynthia went to check on her mom shows how much she cared.
I’ve also been reflecting on how random this tragedy feels. It's terrifying to think that someone who seemed just like another resident—Christian Nielsen—was capable of such horrific acts. It's unsettling to know there's no clear motive, leaving everyone with so many questions.
My heart goes out to everyone who knew Selby, Julie, Cynthia, and James. I can’t even imagine the pain and loss they must be feeling. Here's hoping they’ve found some peace in the years following this senseless tragedy.
What are your thoughts on cases like these where motives are unclear? Do you think we'll ever get full answers to why this happened?
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking a lot about the few weeks leading up to the tragedy at the Black Bear Bed & Breakfast. It's heartbreaking to consider how Selby Bullard and her friend Cynthia Beatson made their way to the inn, likely worried and hoping for an innocent mix-up when they couldn't reach Julie. The small pieces of daily life, like being unable to get someone on the phone, must have felt completely mundane to them, and yet, it turned into such a chilling prelude.
These moments, especially when it involves checking in on a loved one, resonate with so many of us. I can’t imagine the alarm they must have felt on their journey there. Selby had already been through so much, moving across the country to support her mother after their shared loss. It's like they just couldn't catch a break.
Though it seems like such a small detail in a broader, more horrific story, these fragments of real life really make it all hit closer to home. They remind us how fragile everything can be and how we're sometimes thrust into unimaginable circumstances from seemingly ordinary actions. My heart goes out to the family still living with the aftermath, seeking some semblance of peace in the midst of such senseless violence. Sending thoughts to everyone else grappling with this tragedy.
Stay safe, everyone. Hug your loved ones a little tighter today.
I recently stumbled across something really chilling in the case of the Black Bear Bed & Breakfast murders, and I can't get it out of my mind. While it's absolutely gut-wrenching to think about the loss of life, I find myself wondering about the psychological aspect here—how could someone like Christian Nielsen, who lived among these people, turn so violent? It's terrifying to think that he was a familiar face, someone they probably said "good morning" to on countless occasions. It's as if the mask just slipped, revealing a side of him that was all too tragically lethal.
It makes me wonder what, if anything, people noticed about him in the days leading up to the events. Were there any signs or odd behaviors that, looking back, seemed off? I feel so deeply for Julie and Selby, who were just trying to find peace after such a tough time. It's haunting to imagine Selby arriving, likely worried about her mom, not knowing the danger that was waiting. My heart goes out to all the families involved.
The community there really came together in the aftermath, but the trauma of such a violent act must have been a lot to bear. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how small communities deal with crimes of this magnitude?
