On July 2, 1982, eight-year-old Michael D. Sexton disappeared from Thompson Falls, Montana. His body was found the next day in a wooded area near town; investigators determined he had been sexually assaulted and strangled. The case devastated the small community and went cold after an intensive initial investigation.
Evidence from the original crime scene was preserved and in 2003 a usable DNA profile was developed and entered into national databases. That profile produced a match in 2015 to Wayne Allen Kyles, a man with prior sexual offenses against children who was serving a life sentence at the time. Kyles had died in prison the year before and was never formally charged in Michael’s death.
Who in Thompson Falls remembers Michael or has information about that summer in 1982?
