She was located and her son was charged with her murder. 36 year old Curtis Trent Jr has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in the death of his mother, Kathleen Harrison-Trent.

63 year old Kathleen was last seen at her home in Riverhead, New York on January 27, 2026. She was a Riverhead Raceway worker for over 40 years.

She didn’t call her grandchildren that evening, which she does every night to say goodnight. When family members tried calling her she didn’t answer. When they went to check on her at home her truck was gone, but her phone was found inside.

Her son reported her missing on January 29, 2026.

On February 11, 2026, Kathleen’s body was found in a wooded area on Connecticut Avenue in Manorville. The cause of death remains under investigation.

Trent Jr was arrested at his mother’s Forge Road home in Riverhead after an investigation by Homicide Squad detectives, officials said. He was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court earlier today.

According to court documents, Trent Jr. is accused of stabbing his mother about the face, chest, and abdomen. Prosecutors believe the incident occurred between Jan. 27 and Jan. 29.
