On January 27, 2026, Kathleen Harrison-Trent, a 63-year-old mother and grandmother from Riverhead, New York, vanished from her home. Her family grew concerned when she missed her customary nightly call to her grandchildren. When they went to check on her at her Forge Road residence, they found her phone, but she and her truck were gone. Two days later, on January 29, her son reported her missing to the Riverhead Town Police, setting in motion a search that would grip the community. Harrison-Trent was a beloved and well-known figure, having worked at the Riverhead Raceway for over four decades, and news of her disappearance sparked a wide and desperate search by family, friends, and law enforcement. The search for Kathleen came to a heartbreaking end on the afternoon of February 11, 2026. During a search effort in a wooded area in Manorville, authorities discovered the body of a woman. Several days later, on February 16, the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the remains were those of Kathleen Harrison-Trent. From the outset, investigators with the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad stated they believed her death was criminal in nature. The devastating discovery transformed the missing person case into a homicide investigation, leaving her loved ones and the community to mourn the tragic loss of a woman described as a loving, caring mother and an amazing friend. The investigation quickly led back to Kathleen's own family. On February 25, 2026, her 36-year-old son, Curtis Trent Jr., was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death. Prosecutors later revealed grim details, alleging that Trent Jr. had stabbed his mother multiple times. It was further alleged that he wrapped her body in a blanket and left her in the Manorville woods where she was later found. The case is a profound tragedy, concluding with the arrest of the victim's son for her murder after she was reported missing from her Riverhead home. Regrettably, this case is now closed as Kathleen Harrison-Trent was located deceased.
