I recently came across Dante Parks' case, and it truly hit close to home. I grew up near the southeast side of D.C., and I know firsthand how tense those streets can be, especially back in the early 2000s. What stands out to me is how this tragic event happened in broad daylight. It's terrifying to think that someone could be so bold and reckless. I can't help but think about the people who were around at the time. Witnesses might not even realize the significance of what they saw. Even the smallest detail could make a world of difference for Dante's family, who are no doubt still grappling with this loss. If you're reading this and you were anywhere near Minnesota Ave and T St SE that day, please consider whether you might have seen something, anything. Our community owes it to families like Dante’s to help piece these puzzles together. Let's hope that by coming forward, we can help bring some measure of peace to his loved ones.
