Two-year-old Aiden Salcido was found dead in a remote area of Montana on July 27, 2019, after a months-long disappearance that began when his parents vanished from Medford, Oregon, in early June 2019. Surveillance captured the family buying camping gear at a Walmart in early June; the parents later failed to report for court and had felony warrants issued. The couple’s vehicle was stopped in Kalispell on July 24; after a pursuit it ended in a ditch where both adults were found shot to death in an apparent murder-suicide. Aiden was not in the car.

A multi-jurisdictional search followed. A receipt from a Kalispell Walmart dated the day the adults died showed the couple without the child, and witnesses had seen them at a campsite in the West Fisher Creek area in early July. Tips from the public led investigators to an abandoned campsite where Aiden’s body was recovered. An autopsy identified him and listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head; investigators concluded Daniel Salcido was the suspect.
