Jason Jay Benjamin Feeler, 54, of Sun River, Montana, died from gunshot wounds on December 15, 2023, following a violent confrontation with his son, Dalton Feeler. The conflict began after an allegation was made to Dalton that his father had raped his fiancée earlier that day. Dalton arrived at Jason’s residence armed; a physical fight broke out and witnesses separated them.

According to accounts, Jason allegedly took the handgun, loaded it, and threatened those present. After being persuaded to leave, Dalton called 911. Witnesses then disarmed Jason and brought the gun outside to be unloaded, but Jason reportedly returned armed with a rusted sickle and taunted his son, prompting a second scuffle. Later, Dalton encountered Jason behind a locked garage door; when the door opened, Dalton shot him multiple times. Jason died at the scene. Dalton unloaded the firearm, remained in the yard, and was taken into custody without incident. Dalton has been charged with deliberate homicide.
