On the evening of Tuesday, May 23, 2005, gunfire tore through the 400 block of Newcomb Street in Southeast Washington, D.C. At about 10:15 p.m. a man named William Jones was fatally shot, leaving the neighborhood stunned and a homicide investigation underway.
Police developed leads that included a possible suspect described as a Black male wearing a dark-colored security guard uniform over a white shirt, with patches that may have included yellow. Witnesses also reported a small white security car leaving the scene, bearing a possible circular emblem on the passenger-side door.
No arrests have been publicly announced and the case remains unsolved. Anyone with information about that night, the described vehicle, or the person in the security-style uniform is asked to contact the authorities.
