I just can't stop thinking about the courageous actions of the passerby who stopped to help the woman after she was shot on Union Street. It's disheartening to imagine witnessing such a traumatic scene, yet they had the compassion and presence of mind to assist her amid the chaos. It's a stark reminder of the unimaginable situations strangers can find themselves in, and it takes a special kind of person to step up in those moments. I hope this person is getting the support and recognition they deserve for their selfless act of bravery. I also think about the surviving woman, and I hope she is surrounded by love and support during her recovery, both physically and emotionally. It's tragic all around, and my thoughts are with everyone affected by this event.
Just when I think I've wrapped my head around this case, I find myself wondering about the kind of help Barry Lord might have needed. It seems like he was an avid sports fan and was very dedicated to his construction business and his projects around town. Those who knew him say he was skilled and driven. It’s so tragic to think that someone who seemed so accomplished and active was experiencing something this profound beneath the surface.
I can't stop thinking about his family, especially his daughter. I hope they are getting the support they need to navigate through this. Mental health can be such a silent crisis, and it's important we keep talking and reaching out. Maybe there were signs? Or perhaps this is another reminder of how anything can hide behind a person's outward success and interests. I'd be interested to hear thoughts from anyone who might have known him personally or has experience with such situations.
