Has anyone else been closely following Cherish Pearson's case? I'm curious about the effect of those wild rumors on the investigation. It seems like every time there's a missing person case, the Internet inevitably swarms with conspiracy theories and baseless claims. I read that there were rumors about a serial killer, which have already been debunked by the authorities.
But it makes me wonder if all this noise is diverting crucial resources away from finding actual leads. For families, this has to add a whole extra layer of stress on top of everything else they're going through. Does anyone have any insight on how this kind of misinformation can impact an ongoing investigation? Maybe some law enforcement folks here can weigh in on strategies used to counteract these distractions?
