I've been thinking a lot about how this tragedy unfolded right on Darmani's 18th birthday. It's difficult to comprehend the pain his family must be going through under these circumstances. A birthday should be a day of joy and celebration, but for Darmani's loved ones, it has turned into a day marked by an indescribable loss. I can't imagine the heartache his mother Darisa, his siblings Darling and Darielis, and the rest of his family are feeling right now. It's so important that we come together as a community to offer them support and ensure justice is served for Darmani. We need to keep the pressure on to reduce violence in our neighborhoods and create safer spaces for our youth. I hope that the arrests bring some kind of solace to his family, though I know nothing will truly heal the hurt. My thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
