I’ve been following the case of Deputy Sheriff Chad Lee Mechels, and I can’t stop thinking about the impact of such a senseless act on his young children. At just 7 and 3 years old, they lost their father, someone who dedicated his life to protecting others. I hope their community has rallied around them with love and support, but it’s a long journey of healing for them and his family. Books, songs, or even small rituals that keep his memory alive might be comforting as they grow up without him. My heart goes out to them as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Does anyone know if there are any ongoing fundraisers or support groups in their area that have been helping the Mechels family? I'd imagine that having a tangible connection to those who continue to honor his memory would be valuable for them.
