Hi everyone, I’ve been following the discussion on the Westerhuis tragedy, and there’s been something on my mind that I wanted to share. Connor's love for sports was such a big part of his identity, and I can't help but think of how his teammates and coaches must be feeling right now. For someone so young to be so passionate and dedicated is truly special. I read a piece where his coach mentioned how Connor was always the one to lift everyone's spirits, no matter the score. It's gut-wrenching to imagine the empty spot he must've left behind, both on the team and in the lives of everyone who knew him. I hope his friends and teammates find comfort in the memories they shared and the bond they built with him over the years. It's a small solace, but maybe recalling those positive moments can provide a bit of light amidst all this sorrow. Sending love and strength to the entire Platte community and to all affected.

Does anyone else feel deeply saddened thinking about the kind of pressure Scott might have been under leading up to this unimaginable tragedy? It’s terrifying to think about the layers of stressors that could drive someone to such desperate actions. Not trying to justify his actions in any way—there’s absolutely no excusing what he did to his family—but I can’t help but wonder what burden or secrets he felt he couldn't share. It’s a reminder of how important it is to check on the mental health of people around us. The loss of Connor and his siblings at such a young age, along with Nicole, is a profound loss for the community. My heart goes out to their friends and family who must be enduring indescribable pain in the aftermath. We need to continue supporting each other and ensuring that people know they are not alone, no matter how dark things might seem.
