I'm trying to wrap my head around Alex Wittenberg's acquittal in the shooting of Jonathan Puttmann. I can't imagine what Jonathan's family must be going through. It's hard to hear that the jury believed Wittenberg's claim of self-defense, especially considering where Puttmann was shot. I’m curious about the evidence—or maybe lack thereof—that swayed the jury to see this as self-defense. It seems so risky to confront someone when you’re armed, knowing the potential for things to escalate. I can't stop thinking about the children involved. They’ve lost their dad in such a violent way, and now they have to navigate life with the knowledge of this trial and its outcome. My heart goes out to them and to everyone else trying to make sense of this terrible situation.
