I’ve been following the case of David Ironhorse, and something that's been on my mind is how much we overlook the impacts on the immediate community. Can you imagine living in that building on E. Minnesota Street and dealing with the trauma of a shooting right at your doorstep? It's similar to your home suddenly transforming into a crime scene. The residents who were evacuated and those who had to shelter in place must have felt unbelievably endangered. It highlights the bravery of folks like Officer Garrett Mastin, but also the silent resilience of each resident who had to face that harrowing evening. Sending thoughts to everyone in that community who was impacted—they’re often the unseen victims in these situations.
