Has anyone else been looking into the conditions at the Wyoming State Penitentiary during the early 1900s? It's truly shocking to read about the lack of security measures back then. The tragic loss of Guard Ed Samuelson really emphasizes how the inadequate systems were putting both staff and inmates in danger. Think about it—wooden stockades and barbed wire to contain prisoners serving life sentences? It seems so insufficient. I feel deeply for Samuelson's family and for all the officers who served during those risky times. It's a reminder of how much we owe to those who work in such tough environments, often with limited resources. The aftermath brought about much-needed changes, but at such a high cost. It's heartbreaking to think his sacrifice was necessary to spark improvements.
