I’ve been following the case of Sergeant Steven Kenner, and it’s incredibly emotional to think about the risks that our law enforcement officers face every day. It's absolutely unfair that a dedicated officer responding to a call to protect someone else ended up losing his life. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain his family and his colleagues at the Bismarck Police Department must be feeling, especially knowing how long he served the community and the impact he had over those years. What’s infuriating is the sheer unpredictability of such situations. The fact that responding to a domestic disturbance, something officers handle frequently, turned fatal is horrifying. Domestic calls are known to be some of the most dangerous situations officers respond to, but it’s something most of us don’t think about until tragedy strikes. It’s crucial to remember the constant bravery and sacrifices officers like Kenner make to keep communities safe. Thoughts are with his family and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
