Hey everyone, I've been following Triston Billimon's case and I can't shake off how senseless and tragic this entire situation is. One thing that's been on my mind is the unintended consequences that ripple out from such an act. Triston was so young and had his whole life ahead of him—and now his family, especially Jannine and their son, are left trying to navigate this world without him. It hits particularly hard when you consider how it'll affect their little boy growing up. He'll have questions later in life and it's something no parent ever wants to explain—that his dad was taken away in such a violent manner. My heart truly goes out to them. It’s some comfort that the justice system held Reyes accountable, but it doesn’t fill the void left in their lives. It’s a powerful reminder that every action has consequence, often reaching much further than we can ever anticipate. Still thinking about Triston and sending strength to everyone impacted.
