Did anyone else find it absolutely tragic how Deputy Childs was just trying to do his job and protect someone, and it ended in such a senseless way? I can't stop thinking about how he was probably just focused on doing the right thing, following procedure by getting the warrant, and then everything changed in an instant. It’s a chilling reminder of the unpredictability and risks that officers face. My heart goes out to his family and colleagues who had to deal with such a sudden loss. You can really sense how much he was committed to his community through his three years of service. Being in law enforcement is such a brave job, and stories like this really bring home the sacrifices made by officers like Deputy Childs. I'm grateful for the deputies' swift response, but it's just so sad it had to end this way. What a loss for Mobile.
