I'm really struck by the strength and dedication of Deputy John Perry Hood, especially given he was just 23 and already putting his life on the line for others. It’s so sad to think that he was serving with the Greene County Sheriff's Office for only a few days before his life was tragically taken. I can't help but feel for his family, knowing they lost such a brave and committed young man right before the holidays. I wonder why someone of his age chose such a dangerous path. It speaks volumes about his character, and I'm sure his family is incredibly proud of his courage, despite how hard it must have been to lose him so suddenly. Given the times, it must have been an even bigger challenge for law enforcement with the Prohibition era tensions. Does anyone know how his family coped after this tragedy? I can’t imagine what it was like for his siblings and parents to deal with such a loss.
