Ignacio Cordova, a Cuban immigrant, was found fatally stabbed inside his apartment at the Woodner Apartments, 3636 16th Street NW, in Northwest Washington, D.C. His body was discovered on Monday, February 19, 2007, after a foul odor prompted a welfare check; investigators estimated he may have been dead for up to four days before being found. No clear motive has been established — detectives considered robbery, a hate crime, or an altercation that turned violent — and the case became a cold file despite ongoing interest from investigators.

Cordova was described as someone who kept to himself but had friends; his brother was notified and has been in contact with police. In early 2011 the Metropolitan Police Department identified a person of interest known by the aliases Chepe, Chepito, or Juan Jose — a Hispanic male then in his late 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches, 190–200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, who frequented Ninth and Taylor Streets NW and may have worked in auto repair. No arrests have been announced and a reward of up to $25,000 was being offered.

Does anyone who knew Ignacio or who recognized the aliases Chepe, Chepito, or Juan Jose have information that could help investigators?
