Does anyone else find it chilling how Fortenberry managed to slip away with the murder weapon after the crime? I mean, disposing of a Ruger Super Blackhawk revolver isn't exactly a simple task considering how distinct and recognizable it is. This case makes me wonder about the possibility of any help or oversight during his getaway. Even with his admission of guilt, it's hard to fathom how he orchestrated the entire sequence of events alone. My thoughts are with the families, especially when looking at smaller details like this that might raise more questions over the years. It must be incredibly difficult for them to process such an extensive, senseless loss.
Has anyone else been struck by the fact that the murder weapon used was a .44-caliber magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk revolver? It's chilling to think that this weapon, stolen from a gun repair shop co-owned by his own father, was the instrument of such devastation. I'm not a firearms expert by any means, but everything I've read suggests this gun is powerful and not exactly inconspicuous. It's so hard to understand why one would choose this weapon for such a horrific crime. Nancy, Robert, and the others didn’t deserve to be at the wrong place at the wrong time like that. My heart goes out to their families who have had to live with this loss for decades. If anyone has more insights into the choice of weapon or the background of the gun theft, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
