On August 25, 1984, Nancy Payne, 29, and her husband, Robert William Payne, 43, were customers at the Guest Service Station near Attalla, Alabama. During their visit, a robbery unfolded, leading to the tragic deaths of four individuals: Nancy and Robert Payne, Ronald Michael Guest, the 21-year-old son of the station owner, and Wilbur T. Nelson, a 51-year-old employee.
