I’ve been digging into the details of the Changing Times Lounge case, and it’s just so unsettling to think about Florence Adell Elliott and everything her family went through. It’s always so tough when such a tight-knit community like that gets rocked by something so senseless and brutal. From what I’ve read, Florence was someone who had roots laid deep in Birmingham, and her presence must've been such a vibrant part of the local scene. It really makes you reflect on her life beyond that horrific night—what she must have meant to her loved ones and the friends who’ll never get to share another moment with her.
The fact that this case impacted so many people in that community is a stark reminder of how violence leaves scars far beyond the immediate tragedy. Those who knew her and are keeping her memory alive deserve all the support in the world. It’s frustrating to think about how two individuals can create such irreversible devastation, and how the ripple effects of their actions continue to be felt to this day. We'll probably never fully understand why this happens, but we can keep sharing these stories to ensure the victims are never forgotten. RIP Florence and to all the souls taken that night.
Hey all,
I was doing some digging into the Changing Times Lounge case, and I couldn't help but feel so deeply for Florence Adell Elliott's family. It's hard to imagine the pain they must've felt losing someone in such a senseless and brutal way. Florence was only 44, and from what I've read, she was the kind of person who lit up any room she walked into. Her life was cut short so tragically, and it seems like her memory still holds a special place in her community.
I also read that she was laid to rest at Hopewell Baptist Cemetery. I wonder if the community has held any memorials or anniversaries in honor of the victims since then. It's always so vital to keep their memories alive and support the families enduring these immeasurable losses. If anyone has more info on ways people have been honoring Florence and the others over the years, I'd love to hear more about it.
Keeping all the families in my thoughts. Let's hope justice continues to be served.
Stay safe, everyone.
Hey everyone,
Something that's been on my mind about this tragic case is the story behind the Changing Times Lounge itself. From what I've read and heard, it seemed to be a well-loved spot in the community, kind of a second home for regulars and staff. It's hard to imagine such violence invading a place where people gathered to relax, unwind, and share moments of their lives.
I came across some accounts from folks who used to frequent the lounge, and they spoke so warmly about both Pamela and Lester Dodd. They truly cared about the bar and its patrons. One person mentioned how Pamela had a laugh that could light up the entire room, while Lester was always up for a chat with anyone who walked through the door. It feels so unfair that their lives were taken in such a brutal way.
Does anyone have more insights or memories they might want to share about the lounge or the people who made it special? Keeping their stories alive feels important, especially for those who knew and loved them.
Thanks for listening. ?
