Anthony Carr, 26, was killed in a shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 30, 2007, inside the Third Street Tunnel in Washington, D.C. Carr, a resident of Stafford, Virginia, was a passenger in an Acura when the vehicles entered the tunnel around 3:20 a.m.; police say a road-rage dispute began as the Acura and a late-model silver or gray Cadillac DeVille were both entering the tunnel. After the Acura’s driver sounded the horn, an occupant of the Cadillac opened fire, striking Carr multiple times.
Someone in the Acura called 911 and was directed to an exit ramp in Virginia, where law enforcement and emergency medical personnel found that Carr showed no signs of life. The Cadillac — described as carrying four occupants and possibly bearing Maryland plates beginning with the letter D — fled the scene. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch is investigating the death as a homicide and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified.
If anyone remembers the vehicles, the Cadillac, or anyone who might have been in or near the Third Street Tunnel that night, please share what is known with investigators.
