I’ve been reading up on the case of Donald Allen Brookins, and it just makes me think about his family and friends. It must have been devastating to lose someone so young and in such a violent manner. The fact that Birmingham had such a high number of homicides that year is really troubling. I can’t even imagine the fear that residents must have felt, knowing that this kind of violence was happening in their neighborhoods. I wonder if there were any particular community initiatives introduced after this incident to help curb the violence. It seems like such a complex issue, and I hope that those efforts have had a lasting impact. Sending thoughts and strength to Donald’s loved ones and everyone in Birmingham who had to endure that difficult time.
