Hi everyone, I've been thinking about the community response following Jamal Butler's tragic death and how it's really brought people together in Opelika. It's truly moving to see how many have come forward to share their memories of Jamal at the vigils and online. It seems like he was deeply loved and cherished by so many, which speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. I read that his funeral service at Thompson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church was filled with everyone from family to just people from the neighborhood who wanted to pay their respects. It's touching to witness a community rally around a family in their time of grief, especially knowing he left behind a young daughter. It must be incredibly difficult for her and the rest of his family. Does anyone know if there are ongoing support initiatives or fundraisers for his little girl? I'd love to stay involved and help ensure she feels the love and support from the community as she grows up. Sending thoughts to all who knew and loved Jamal.
