Jonathan Franklin, 15, was killed on Sunday, September 30, 2007, around 1:00 a.m. while standing at a bus stop in the 5400 block of 14th Street NW in Washington, D.C. A gold or tan pickup truck with tinted windows pulled up and two occupants armed with handguns exited and opened fire. Franklin was fatally wounded; two other teens, aged 15 and 14, were also shot and survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch investigated, but the suspects fled in the pickup and were not identified that night. The case officially remained unsolved. Court documents filed in 2011 indicated investigators believed Franklin was affiliated with a neighborhood gang known as Clifton Terrace University (CTU) and that a rival gang, the Hobart Stars, may have been held responsible, suggesting a targeted attack linked to a gang feud.
No arrests have been publicly announced. Did anyone in the 14th Street NW area that night see the truck or the people who got out of it?
