Hey everyone,
I've been following the Willie Harris Coleman Jr. case, and something that stood out to me was the involvement of four individuals—Shontavious Williams, JaMichael Kinchen, Derunteze Parker, and Maya Morris. It's just so baffling to think about how four people could have conspired to end someone's life, allegedly for a robbery. What strikes me is how young all these people are and how senseless violence can take root in their lives.
Reading about Debbie Coleman's grief just breaks you. I can't even begin to imagine what she's going through, losing her only child like that. It makes you think about how the community wasn't just robbed of Willie, but those four now face the end of their own lives in a way, too.
Does anyone else have thoughts on how communities can intervene earlier to prevent things like this from happening? It seems like a conversation we should be having more often. Please share any resources or initiatives that you think might help.
