Alberta Dunton, a 56-year-old African-American woman described as a loving mother and grandmother, was found dead in the rear alley of the 900 block of 12th Street NE in Washington, D.C., on the afternoon of Thursday, November 1, 2007, at about 4:10 pm. The Metropolitan Police Department opened a homicide investigation and appealed for public help, offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Dunton was survived by two children, Anthony Plummer and Bernice Underwood, twelve grandchildren, a sister, and a brother.

The killing was one of several homicides in that police service area that year, contributing to community concern. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been publicly identified; the case later grew cold.

Did anyone in the neighborhood at the time have information that could help bring justice for Alberta Dunton?
