Jerry Phelps, 33, was found dead in his Washington, D.C., apartment on December 22, 2007, at about 2:57 a.m. His body was located in a residence on the 1700 block of Trinidad Avenue NE. The Metropolitan Police Department determined he died of a gunshot wound to the head and classified the case as a homicide.

Detectives suggested Phelps’s body may have been in the apartment for several days before discovery. The department’s Violent Crimes Branch investigated, and a reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. There have been no arrests and no suspects publicly identified.
