Michael R. Dempsey was 20 when he was fatally shot inside his vehicle on the 800 block of Decatur Street NE in Washington, D.C., at about 12:35 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2007. Emergency responders reached the scene, but his wounds proved lethal and his death was ruled a homicide. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch opened an investigation.

The case remains unsolved. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been reported, and MPD has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Family and friends remember Dempsey as a nice and respectful young man. If anyone has information about what happened that night in December 2007, please come forward to assist the investigation.
