Has anyone else been following the sentencing phase of this case? My heart truly goes out to Cedric Pierson's family, and I can’t imagine what they’ve gone through over these years. It’s interesting to see how the initial assault charge against Owens got upgraded to murder, only for him to eventually be convicted of manslaughter. I know legal processes can be complex, but I can’t help but wonder if the escalation during that argument could have somehow been avoided. What do you all think about the consecutive sentences Owens received? It seems quite significant for manslaughter and assault, but I hope it provides some degree of justice or closure for Cedric’s loved ones.
