Hey folks, I've been following the Jesscilus Phillips case out of Selma, and something that's been on my mind is just how terrifying it must have been for Julie Adams and his family to deal with the immediate aftermath of the crime. I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for them waking up to that phone call or having to piece together what had happened.
Considering Phillips was in his sleeping attire, it seems he was completely unprepared for what unfolded. That's just chilling. I'm also thinking about how these home invasions shatter the sense of security we should feel in our own homes. It's such a violation on so many levels.
I also read that John Hall, his best friend, talked a lot about their barbecues and shared birthdays. Losing a close friend like that just throws you into a different world, doesn't it? I'm relieved that there's some movement in the case with the arrest of Elijah Alfonso Harris, though I know that's only one step in the long journey for those who loved Jesscilus. My thoughts are with them as they navigate this difficult time.
