Was anyone else struck by the strange circumstances surrounding the denial of Piotr's request to go ashore? I mean, it's not uncommon for crew members to want a break or need something on land. The fact he was told no makes me wonder if there was more going on aboard the BBC Ecuador than we know. Was there some tension or underlying issue? Could there have been someone on board that Piotr was trying to avoid or a situation he was desperate to leave? The refusal seems a bit rigid unless there was a specific reason behind it. I'm curious if anyone with maritime experience can weigh in on how typical or atypical this situation might be.
