I’ve been thinking a lot about how these types of gatherings can unexpectedly turn fatal and the impact it has on the victim’s family and friends. It must be incredibly difficult for Zachori's loved ones to process how a night meant for socializing could end in such devastation. Hearing about the trial and the jury’s manslaughter verdict really hit me. I’m sure some people feel that justice has been served, but others might struggle with the notion that this tragic event wasn’t deemed murder. It raises so many questions about how we view accountability in intoxicated states. Wishing strength to everyone affected by this tragedy as they continue to navigate through their loss and the implications of the outcome.
