I've been following the case of Marquorious Rowell, and it's incredibly upsetting to hear about such a young life lost so suddenly. I keep thinking about the impact this must have on his family and friends. Losing someone like this leaves a wound that doesn't easily heal.
What I can't wrap my head around is what led to the situation where a juvenile had access to a firearm. It seems like such a senseless accident that could perhaps have been avoided. I understand investigations are ongoing, but I really hope they look into how the gun was obtained and if there were any lapses in securing firearms in the home.
Accidents involving guns and young people aren't uncommon, unfortunately, but every single one is tragic and feels so preventable. Does anyone know if there have been any community initiatives in Auburn addressing gun safety, especially in homes with children and teens? Hoping there’s some positive change that can come from this tragedy to prevent another family from going through something like this.
