Has anyone else been following the 2016 spike in violence in Birmingham and the case of Lawrence Thomas? It's so overwhelming to hear about the number of homicides that year, but Thomas's situation really sticks with me. The fact that it was deemed self-defense just adds another layer of complexity. It really makes me think about how tough it must be for investigators to piece together these instances, especially when they have to consider if someone acted in self-defense. My heart goes out to the families and friends who have to navigate these findings on top of their loss. It’s a sad reminder of how crucial it is to not only tackle gun violence but also ensure justice is fairly served. Has anyone read more about how the city handled these investigations? Would love to get some more insight into this case and others like it from that year.
