On the morning of Friday, October 10, 2008, 40-year-old Delfa Hercules, a Salvadoran-born hotel housekeeper, was fatally stabbed while waiting at a bus stop in the 1700 block of 3rd Street NW in Washington, D.C. Severely wounded, she managed to walk from the bus stop toward her rowhouse in the 200 block of Florida Avenue NW, leaving a trail of blood before collapsing on the front stoop; she was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Delfa lived with her husband, Hernan Guevara, and her sister, Rosa Hercules. She had immigrated to the United States about ten years earlier, leaving a young daughter in El Salvador. Her sister remembered her as joyful and fond of simple outings with her husband. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch canvassed the neighborhood and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but no arrests or public identifications of suspects have been made and the case grew cold.

Who knew Delfa, saw her that morning, or has information that could finally answer what happened to her?
