Durval Martins was shot and killed in the early morning of December 16, 2008, at about 3:06 am at the intersection of 11th and Q Streets NW in Washington, D.C. An officer on patrol nearby heard the gunshots and found Martins on the street; paramedics were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His wallet was reportedly still in his hand when he was found.
Family members said Martins, 35, had been walking home from the bars on 17th Street near Dupont Circle that night, which his family described as different from his usual habit of taking a cab. A twin brother, Pedro Martins, spoke publicly about the family’s grief and a makeshift memorial with candles and hand-written messages was placed at the shooting site. Police investigators said an officer saw two young men running north on 11th Street shortly after the gunfire, but no arrests have been announced and the case remains unresolved.
Did anyone in the Dupont Circle or 11th and Q Streets area that night see something that could help identify the people who ran away?
