Lamar Anthony Pierce, 23, was fatally shot inside his apartment at 2348 Skyland Place in Southeast Washington, D.C., just after midnight on January 1, 2009. Metropolitan Police responded and the case was handled by the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch, which appealed for public help and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Despite the reward and an investigation, no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. The homicide remains unsolved and the case is still listed as open with detectives asking anyone with information to come forward.
