Eugene Francis Neal Sr., a 52-year-old Metro station manager and native of Washington, D.C., was shot and killed near his home in Northeast Washington on March 25, 2009. He had worked for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority since 2002 and was finishing a shift at the Takoma Metro station about half an hour earlier. Police were called to the 1500 block of Hamlin Street NE at approximately 1:00 a.m. after reports of gunfire and found Neal with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nothing was taken from him — his truck, keys, and wallet were found with his body — and the motive remains unknown. The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch is investigating and has offered up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Did anyone who lived or worked in Northeast D.C. around March 2009 see or hear anything that could help this family?
